Obituary for Bruce A. Banks
Bruce Allen Banks, Sr. son of the late Henry and Blanche Banks was born January 1, 1937. He entered eternal rest July 4, 2012. Bruce was born and educated in Currituck County, North Carolina. Bruce worked for Belk - Tyler Department Store, Elizabeth City, North Carolina for many years where he later retired. He worked with James Britt for years first at Pasquotank Elementary and finally at J. C. Sawyer Elementary and retired again. Bruce was a very affectionate and energetic man. He became a member of Good Hope A. M. E. Zion Church where he accepted Christ at an early age. Later in life he became a member of Robertson Temple Holiness Church under the leadership of Rev. Robert Aydlett, Sr. He leaves to cherish his memories; Three Daughters, Kathleen Banks Thomas and her husband William, Dena' Banks and her husband Darryl, Dorthea Walker Lewis and her husband Gerald and also a special daughter Beryl Combs all of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. One son; John Thomas Walker and his wife Melissa of Chesapeake, Virginia. Five Grandchildren; William Allen Thomas, Deneal Banks, Destiny Banks and Cherica Thomas of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, John Walker, Jr. of Chesapeake, Virginia. One Great Grandson; Quontae' Thomas and a very special nephew/son; Russell G. Ward lll and his wife Mavis of Elizabeth City, North Carolina. One sister; Willie Quittley of New Jersey. The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter and son in law Mr. & Mrs. William Thomas 855 Simpson Ditch Road, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
