Obituary for Rosa Deloris Mitchell Northcross
Mrs. Rosa Deloris Mitchell Northcross 81 departed this life on May 14, 2014 to rest and find peace in the loving arms of her Heavenly Father. Born August 3, 1932, Mrs. Nortrhcross was the older of two children born to the late Richard R. L. Gary and the late Beatrice Scott Gary in Norfolk, VA. Her husband, Johnny M. Northcross, preceded her in death. Mrs. Northcross was a 1950 Graduate of Booker T. Washington High School High School. She is survived by her son Rodney Mitchell (Kathy) of Chesapeake, VA.; her brother Richard Gary (Edwina) of Suffolk, VA.; cousins Josephine Schofield ((Taylor) and Barry Saunders (Pamela) of Chesapeake, VA.; Rosa Lee Saunders, Olivia Saunders, and Helen Goodman of Norfolk, VA. and Robert B. Saunders of Wilmington, N. C. Survivors also include two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Viewing will be Friday, May 23, 2014 from 9:00 A. M. to 10:30 A. M. in the Chapel of Corner Stone Missionary Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow in the Church Chapel at 10:30 A. M. with the Rev. Dr. Walter L. Smith, Jr. Officiating. Burial services will be private. Rosa was especially blessed with special, life-long friends who loved her, cared for her, and watched over her. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Annie Pollard (Rev. Donald), Nicki Green, Maude Thompson, Doris Middleton, Katherine Dickerson, Odessa Morton, and Louise Jones. In lieu of flowers the family request donations in remembrance of Rosa Northcross be made to Corner Stone Missionary Baptist Church 507 South Martin Luther King Drive, Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
