Obituary for Latisha Samantha Midgette

Latisha Samantha Midgette, affectionately known as "Tish" was born in Elizabeth City, NC to James Curtis Midgette, Sr. and Pamela Taylor McLean on November 1, 1983.

She departed this life on September 8, 2024, in Hampton, Virginia. Latisha had a uncle whom she adored, "Mike", that preceded her in death 12 days before her departure. Tish got her early Christian training at Samuel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the youth choir and ushered on the junior usher board. As an adult, she served as a Youth Church teacher.

Latisha began her education in the public schools of Elizabeth City/ Pasquotank Coounty where she graduated from Northeastern High School class of 2002. Latisha enjoyed sports and was a member of the girls basketball team, volley ball team, and track team. She was also a member of the NHS marching band where she became a member of the majorette squad eventually becoming chief majorette her senior year. After graduation, Tish began her educational career at Campbell Universitywhere she stayed two years, but then transfered to Elizabeth City State University where she played girls volleyball and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorotity Inc. She graduated with a dual major in Elementary Education and Psychology.

Latisha leaves to cherish her memories a wonderful son, Christopher Harrrison, Jr. of Hampton, VA; her parents, James Curtis Midgette, Sr. and Pamela (James) McLean of Elizabeth City, NC; eleven sisters, Stephanie Satterwhite of Charlotte, NC, Tina Perryof Mufreeboro, TN, Linae (Corey) Jacox of Waldorf, MD, Mary (Hunter)Morris of Memphis, TN, Bryhana Midgette of Elizabeth City, NC, Samaijah Overton of Bertie, NC, ShrQuasia Overton of Atlana, Georgia, Kaysha Griffin of Elizabeth City, NC, Monique Hamer of Greenville, SCCrystal (Tee) Baker, and Marquilla McLean of Lillington, NC; three borthers, James Midgette, Jr.of Atlanta, Gerogia, Michael (Angel) Taylor of Boca Raton, Florida, Antwan (Tonia) McLean of Lillington, NC; eight god sisters, Christy Spence of San Diego, Cal., Shannon (Tylvoice) Coston of Hertford, NC;, Jancinta (Tyrone) Dillard, Devone Moore, Jazmine Cherry, Michelle Adkins and Sheronda Rountree of Elizabeth City, N.C.Charmine White of Raleigh- Durham, NC, Bakita Hunter of New York, NY; four god brothers, Terriney (Rhoda) Sutton, of Raleigh, NC, Jason Jackson and Jarod Harris of Elizabeth ity, NC, Corey (Charniecce) Smith of Chesapeakee, VA; seven aunts, Deborah Spence of Baltimore, MD,Carrie Taylor of Joppa, MD, Jonola (Gertie) Rountree of Camden, NC, Ozzie Taylor of Waterbury, Conn, CelesteTaylor and Robin Taylor of Elizabeth City, NC; four uncles Apostle Gwayland (Vanessa) McCleney of Winfall, NC, Henry (Shirley) Chatman of Elizabeth City, NC, Elder Brian (Leveda) Taylor of High Point, NC and Kenneth Taylor of Hopkins, SC;; Ome great aunt Bernice Cowell of Elizabeth City, NC, and a host of nieces, relatives and friends.
